

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert Lewis Broussard, Jr. and Hazel Scallan Broussard; in-laws, Dr. Cecil Paul Loechelt and Mary Lou Perkins Loechelt; and nephew, Dustin Paul Honeycutt.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lynn Loechelt Broussard; children, Kaylie Mitchell and spouse Chad, Brad Broussard and fiancé Maci, Madeline Broussard; grandchildren, Ella and Easton Mitchell, and Brooke Broussard; father, Gilbert “Gil” Broussard III and wife Donnie; mother, Betty Broussard; sister, Connie Herrin and spouse Mike and their children Jesse and Michael; brother in-law, Gus Loechelt; sister in-law, Kate Loechelt and her children, Victoria and Dale.
Charles had a love for sports and could stump anyone in sports trivia. “Charlie” was a frequent caller in to Buddy’s Sports Talk. He made many lifelong friends in his younger years playing fast pitch softball. He was an avid golfer with a love for the game. Charles loved cooking for family and friends. He cooked hamburgers for every home football game at U-High for fourteen years. He was known to have the best jambalaya and boiled crawfish. Charles “Poppie” loved his grandchildren greatly and looked forward to their time together. He fought hard through his illness until the end and we know he will be guiding us from Heaven.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Another visitation will take place the following day at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow the funeral at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge. Active Pallbearers serving will be Brad Broussard, Chad Mitchell, Easton Mitchell, Dale Honeycutt, Danny Honeycutt, Brett Davis, Rick Gardner and Scott Jolly.
