

Carmena, Charles DudleyCharles "Doll" Carmena, a native of Central, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday August 13, 2015 at the age of 93 surrounded by his daughters. His wife of 52 years, Clara Williams Carmena, preceded him in death in January 2013. Charles was born October 17, 1921 and was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Central High School in 1940. After high school he served his country in World War II in the European Theatre with the 156th Infantry Company A. Charles enjoyed boxing, winning a Golden Glove Championship Tournament held in Jacksonville, Florida in 1942, a story he loved to tell. He also enjoyed riding with a local motorcycle club and riding horses with the EBR Parish Sheriff's posse. He attended business classes at LSU and was a successful entrepreneur. Charles worked for the Exxon Research and Development Labs as a Cost Analyst retiring with 30 years of service. He lived his passion of raising cattle and horses almost all the years of his life. Charles was a life long member of Blackwater United Methodist Church. Survived by three daughters, Camille Louise Carmena and husband Robert Teniente, Charlene Yvette Carmena Blanchard, Mary Catherine Carmena-Daylong and husband James Michael Daylong; grandchildren, David Todd Blanchard and Corey Joseph Blanchard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceeded in death by wife Clara Williams Carmena; parents, Walter Alfred and Camille Louise LeBlanc Carmena; a sister, Anna Lucille Carmena Babineaux; two brothers, Wendell Carroll Carmena and Wilton Emmanuel Carmena. A special thanks to all caregivers who helped Charles during his last few years. Visitation will be Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street in Baton Rouge from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Visiting will resume on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Blackwater United Methodist Church, 10000 Blackwater Rd., Baker, LA 70714 at 9:00 a.m. until a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Blackwater Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Blanchard, Corey Blanchard, Gary Carmena, Darrell Carmena, John Dupre, and Bret Bertinot. Memorial donations can be made to Blackwater United Methodist Church.
