"At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Philippians 2:9-11. Charles Favaro died on March 19, 2021 at his home. He was 90 years of age, a native and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a licensed pharmacist since 1953 and retired as the Chief Compliance Officer and Investigator for the Louisiana State Board of Pharmacy. He was awarded a gold certificate from the Board in 2003, denoting 50 years of service as a licensed pharmacist. He attended LSU where he played in the marching and concert bands, Loyola University in New Orleans, and graduated from the University of Houston Pharmacy School in 1953. He was a member of the “Capital Area Pharmacists’ Association" and a lifetime member of the "Louisiana Pharmacists' Association." He was an active parishioner and usher at "Our Lady of Mercy" Catholic Church, and an active member and co-captain of the Manresa Retreat Group No. 24, where he participated in more than 50 retreats. He was a U.S. Army veteran of “The Korean Conflict” where he served in a medical company and also played in the 1st Armored Division Band. He was the founder and leader of "The Music Makers," a local dance band for many years, and a member of the St. Aloysius based "Family of Praise" prayer community's music ministry as well as "The Bread of Life," a local gospel band of past years. Survived by stepdaughter, Debora Evans, and numerous cousins. Preceded in death by wife, Chloe T. Favaro, mother, Seraphine Cerame Favaro, father, Frank J. Favaro, maternal grandmother, Annie B. Losavio, paternal grandmother, Frances M. Roppolo, and numerous cousins. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 1100 Florida Blvd. from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M on Tuesday, March 30. The rosary will be recited at 6:30, led by parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. There will be a mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic church at 445 Marquette Avenue, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. conducted by Reverend Cleo Milano. Honorary pallbearers will be William Favaro, Mike Favaro, Keith Favaro, Hypolite Favaro, Ken Heard, Joseph P. Cerame, Jr., Daryl Patin, Fabian Patin, Blaine Patin, and Geoffrey Black. In addition, James Williams and the ushers of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church as well as Johnny Bordelon and all co-captains of the Manresa Retreat Group No. 24. are named as honorary pallbearers.
