Charles R. Odom, 84, a native of Rainey, Miss., and resident of Central, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011. A Navy veteran of World War II, Charles was a co-founder of Auto King Muffler Shops Inc. An avid horseman, he loved life and people which was seen through his involvement in the Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris A. Odom; two sons, Richard Odom and wife Nan, and Stan Odom and wife Mary; grandchildren, Chad Odom, Stephanie Odom, Felicia Reid, Tracy Schmidt, Bobby Callender Jr., Tracie Carroll and Joe Cotten; and great-grandchildren, Robert Schmidt Jr., Kaileigh Schmidt, Joey Schmidt, Kylee Schmidt, Caleb Callender, Camryn Callender, Madelyn Shaffett and Aaron Poe. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Walter Stephen Odom; parents; and brother-in-law, Bill Albriton. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 27, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 28, from 2 p.m. until service at 4 p.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
