
On Feb. 16, 2008, surrounded by his family, Clarence "C.J." Roussel Jr. quietly slipped into the arms of Jesus. Clarence, a longtime local business owner, was born in Gramercy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence J. Roussel Sr. and Gladys Tureau Roussel. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Billie Roussel. Clarence is also survived by two daughters Kandi Roussel, and Kimberly and husband Julian Murphy; son, Kirk Roussel; two stepsons, Rodger and wife Tammy Morgan, and Darrin and wife Sandy Morgan; stepdaughter, Kelly and husband Jeff Capps; sister, Gadis Mendoza; and brother-in-law, Ken and wife Nancy Condry. A singular delight of Clarence's life was his granddaughter, Lucy Murphy. Clarence was also blessed with stepgrandchildren, Macy, Karyssa, Darrin Jr. and Heather; great-grandchildren, Savannah, and soon-to-be-born Darrin III. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles mourn his passing as well. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Monday, Feb. 18, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church, 5354 Plank Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Moroney, celebrant. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Charles Sullivan, Kirk Roussel, Rodger Morgan, Darrin Morgan, Julian Murphy, Jeff Capps and Darrin Morgan Jr. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Michael Chastain and staff, Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet oncology and staff, and the entire staff at St. Joseph Hospice for their care of Clarence during his illness.
