Clytice Cohoon, born on August 31, 1927, passed away on September 29, 2014, after a brief illness. Originally from Tichnor, Arkansas, Clytice, was married to her husband, Tom, for fifty-nine years. Tom was a career Army officer and she traveled the world with him and their four children, oftentimes uprooting her family every three years as they moved to their next military assignment. On many occasions he was deployed for lengthy periods and she managed the household and rearing of her children. In 1972 they settled in Baton Rouge. She dedicated her life to being a wife and mother, and eventually grandmother, beaming with pride at any mention of her family. Upon the passing of her cherished husband, she made her final move to Spanish Town, where she continued her love for gardening, and was often in her front yard or front porch, visiting with neighbors and casual walkers. She was an ardent LSU football fan, never missing rooting for her "Purple and Gold". She religiously read her newspaper every morning and loved to talk politics. She is survived by her loving children, Brigette and Tom Cohoon, Cheryl McCormick and Derrell Cohoon, Donna and Dale Bodden, and Vickie Cohoon; grandchildren, Chad Cohoon, Casey Cohoon, Cody Cohoon, Shannon and Jessie McCormick, Ronnie, Dak, Beaux Brian, Brandi Simmons, and Dale Kelly Bodden; and great-grandchildren, Cody Cohoon and Haley Grace McCormick. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Cohoon and son Roger Cohoon. A funeral service will be held at 11am, Monday, October 6 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, at 833 Government Street, with visitation following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge or the Baton Rouge General Pennington Cancer Center.
