D. Joseph, “D.J.”, Webre, Jr. passed peacefully in his home on September 4, 2024 at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jo Ann Montagnino Webre; three daughters, Jeanne Webre Lamy, Anne Hindrichs (Al), and Sharon LaBauve (Jim), and son, Daniel Webre; grandchildren Mary Jennifer, “Jenny”, Lamy, Camille LaBauve Anderson (Calen), Joshua Hindrichs (Katy), Mitchell LaBauve (Haley), Ashlyn Hindrichs Fresina (Jonathan); and great grandchildren, Ella, Matthew, Louis, Christopher, Abby, Jack, and Oliver.
As a Baton Rouge native, he graduated from Catholic High School and Louisiana State University. He had an accomplished career. He took pride in being a Registered Professional in Agricultural and Civil Engineering and a Registered Land Surveyor of Louisiana. He was a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society, Louisiana Society of Professional Engineers in Civil Service, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He worked for the Department of Transportation and Development for over 30 years where he served as the Project Engineer for the Ports of Louisiana. He was a proud service member of the United States Army.
DJ’s faith, wife, and family were paramount in his life. He enjoyed being an active parishioner at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He was an inquisitive person who was able to fix practically anything he attempted. He had wisdom to impart for every situation in life. He took pride in instilling Christian values in his family. DJ was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His smile was always brighter when he was surrounded by his loved ones.
DJ was preceded in death by his father, D. Joseph Webre, Sr.; his mother, Madeline Guilbeau; his aunt, Clothilde Guilbeau; and his grandson, Jared Matthew Lamy.
Pallbearers are the following: Josh Hindrichs, Mitchell LaBauve, Calen Anderson, Jonathan Fresina, Ryan Quick, and Jacob Gibbs.
His family would like to give special thanks to his doctors, Dr. Jeffrey Hyde, Dr. Michael Rolfsen, and their staffs; to Laura and Gayle with Audubon Hospice; and to son-in-law, Al Hindrichs.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am.
