A retired instrument technician with Albemarle, he died at 11 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 66. He was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of New Roads. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. was on Saturday Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel on Sunday from noon until the religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Merlin Liverman and the Rev. Louis Boyd. Interment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Evelyn Gaye Major; adopted daughter, Penelope Sarnataro and husband Jason; sons, Daniel Steven Major Jr. and wife Susan and Randall Paul Major and wife Tracie; and grandchildren, Jarrett, Justin, Sarah, Megan and Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven J. Major Sr. and Rita Mae Patin Major; and brother, Steven Major Jr. He was a member and deacon of Parkview Baptist Church and was a graduate of Istrouma High School.
