
Darrell L. Cobb, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served as commissioner of insurance, deputy commissioner of insurance, and state elections director for the state of Louisiana. He served as president of the Rotary Club. He was a graduate of the LSU Banking School and Baton Rouge High School. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Wednesday, Oct. 26, was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dick Gates. Burial to follow at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by two daughters, Sheri Cobb Barringer and husband J. Raegan Barringer, and Lauri Cobb Bourg and husband Brad Bourg; a sister, Gloria Cobb Pevey; and six adored grandchildren, Bryn Makayah Barringer, Jackson McDade Barringer, Robert Cade Barringer, Andrew Bradford Bourg, Robert Lane Bourg and Meredith Lee Bourg. He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Cobb; mother, Lee Verne Scott Cobb; brothers, Robert L. Cobb and Ronald G. Cobb; sister, June Cobb Brown; and brother-in-law, Charles Pevey.
