Daryl Wayne Whitty, Sr., a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, July 29, 2016, two weeks before his 82nd birthday. He was a graduate of Catholic High School in 1952, then graduated LSU in Chemical Engineering while playing for the LSU Baseball team. After his college graduation, he served in the United States Army, earning the rank 2nd Lieutenant. After his time in the Army, he was employed by Exxon/Mobil and retired after forty-three years. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Stephanie Lawton Whitty, sons Daryl “Duane” Jr., J. Rhett (Lynn), Lance Lawton (Celeste), and daughter, Inger Nolan (Jim). Grandchildren, Taylor, Lance Jr., Carley, and Mia. Great-Grandchildren, Kaden and Bree. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Juanita Whitty. Per the family, services will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic High School or St. Joseph’s Academy.
