
A loving husband, father and grandfather and a retired conductor with Illinois Central Railroad, he passed away at 3 p.m.Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, at Our Lady of The Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 76. He was a resident of Baton Rouge, a native ofUtica, Miss., and a U.S. Navy veteran. Visiting atLanierBaptistChurch, 4851 Lanier Drive, on Sunday, Dec. 10, was from 5 p.m.to 9 p.m.Visiting at the church resumes on Monday from 9 a.m.until religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Mike Ferguson. Interment will follow inGreenoaksMemorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Menck Hood; daughter, Linda Hood Sansone and husband Samuel; son, Edward Dewitt "Eddie" Hood, and wife Renee Nevels; and five grandchildren, Tony and Angela Sansone, and Kelly, Tara and Holly Hood. Preceded in death by his parents, Ivy Christopher Hood and Josie Story Hood; brothers, Malcolm Reginald Hood and Ivy Christopher Hood Jr.; and sisters, Mildred Doris Hood Hawkins and Edith Hood Scarborough. He was an active member ofLanierBaptistChurch, where he served as head usher and on numerous committees, and was a member of the Central Masonic Lodge. Pallbearers will be Gerald West, Allen Thompson, Jim Forbes, Stan Forbes, Charles Crenshaw and Dave Cleveland. Honorary pallbearers are John Pace, Ben Blackwell, Gary Hawkins and Tony Sansone.
