

Don Tracy Ladd passed away on April 9, 2026, at the age of 83. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 63 years, Emily Ladd; two daughters, Tracie and Teri; three grandsons, Christopher, Jayce and Tyler; one granddaughter, Lauren; three great-grandsons, Greyson, Luke and Cooper; his brother, John; and two nieces, Jennifer and Jessica. He was preceded in death by his parents, Byrle and Maxine Barnes Ladd.
Tracy spent his entire professional life focused on ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of others. He attended LSU on a full scholarship as a student athletic trainer. Upon graduation, he became a health teacher and athletic trainer at Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. After two years in Texas, Tracy returned to LSU as an athletic trainer under Coach Charlie McClendon and went on to become the Head Athletic Trainer for the entire athletic program, covering all sports.
In recognition of his outstanding work at LSU, he was inducted into the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame in 1999. Upon leaving LSU, Tracy worked in the Safety and Risk Management fields for Turner Construction, Morganti Construction, and O&G Construction.
Tracy was a member of the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association. He enjoyed gardening, LSU athletics, great food, and loved his family and cats. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial gathering will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 11 am until memorial service at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnels to Towers.
