

In life we loved you dearly; in your absence we do the same.” Donald David Blanchard passed away on October 26, 2013 at his home with those he loved. Born on January 1, 1923 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Donald served as a Tech. Sgt., US Marine Corp, 3rd Division in the Pacific Theatre. He was present at the raising of the US Flag on Mount Suribachi during the battle of Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945. After WW II, he settled in Baton Rouge, LA and established and owned Blanchard Trailer Sales, Inc., on Airline Hwy. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM with funeral services and internment immediately following at 2:00 PM at Green Oaks Memorial Gardens located at 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Frank Blanchard, mother Eloise Blanchard and his previous wife Anna Mae Blanchard. He is survived by his wife Mya Blanchard, her daughter and husband Al and Ann Moak, son and daughter-in-law Sandy and Barbara Sanders, son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Cathy Sanders. With Anna Mae Blanchard he is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard and Dianne Patureau, daughter and son-in-law Carol Ann and Tommy Smith and daughter Susan Hogue. One sister, Dora Lee Moak, grandchildren include; Jason, Susanna, Lauren, Julie, Shane, Lee, Amanda, Bret (deceased), Scott, Brandon and Meagan and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
