

Donald “Don” Giacone, 86, died Monday, January 2, 2023. Don, born and raised in Baton Rouge, attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School, Catholic High School and Baton Rouge High School. He will be sadly missed by his sons and daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many good friends. Don is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Nancy Giacone; Michael Giacone and fiancé Janet Malone; and Jason and Kristy Giacone. He was “PaPa Don” to Laurel and Anthony Striker, Brad and Meehan Giacone, Jackson Giacone, Avalyn Giacone, and his twin great-grandchildren, Everett and Bennett Giacone. He is also survived by his brother Raymond Giacone. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. and Josie Civello Giacone. Don served as a corporal in the US Marine Corps and deployed to Korea, earning the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was an avid LSU Tigers fan and enjoyed working as an extra in many movie productions. Don spent the last few years of his life at Southside Gardens Retirement Living Center where he thoroughly enjoyed time with many wonderful friends and caring staff, especially the loving friendship of Jeri Bandaries. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a religious service on January 12th, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street in Baton Rouge. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North Street in Baton Rouge. Visitation at Rabenhorst will begin at 10:00 AM.
