Dora Smith Crochet

"Dora Smith Crochet passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the age of 85 in Sunshine, Louisiana. She was born on December 13, 1932 in Selma, Alabama. Dora retired from Baton Rouge General Guest House, and was a former employee and avid member of St. Gabriel Senior Citizen Center. She was a beloved mother of five, grandmother of nine, and great grandmother of nine. She loved arts and crafts, cooking, and spoiling all her grandchildren, and all children alike. Dora was known for her sweet and caring heart as she believed in an open door policy. She never met a stranger nor denied anyone a good home-cooked meal. Survived by her five children: Sydney Crochet Whitted, Johnny Crochet, Gary Crochet Sr. and spouse Angela Carville Crochet, Wanda Crochet Cambre, Deborah Crochet Brooks and spouse H.L. Brooks; Sisters: Eleanor Swedenburg and Margaret Harbin; Nine Grandchildren: Gary L Crochet Jr. and spouse Mandy Haydel Crochet, Jeanne Crochet Koniditsiotis and spouse Elias Koniditsiotis, Theresa L Cambre, John David Cambre Jr., Rebecca Ann Brooks, Jessica Whitted, Larry Whitted Jr., Caleb Crochet, and Josh Crochet and Nine Great grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: Husband John Crochet, Parents Lucille and Arthur Smith, Sisters: Pearl (Jiggs), Sarah, Lucille, Ray, and Sharon Jean, brother Arthur Frank (BOE); daughter in law Donna Baucum Crochet. Visitation will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 9:00am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel Catholic Church at 11:00. Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel Catholic Church Mausoleum. The pallbearers will be Larry Whitted Jr, Caleb Crochet, Josh Crochet, John David Cambre, Jr., Gary Crochet, Jr., and Elias Koniditsiotis. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
