

"Doris Lasseigne Carville, 98, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. She was a native and resident of LaPlace before moving to St. James Place in Baton Rouge for care. She was married to Jules A. Carville, Jr. from 1941 until he died in 1997. Doris, also known as "Miss Doris" or "DD," attended Brenau University in Georgia and graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Home Economics. Doris was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She taught high school Home Economics before becoming a homemaker. Together with her husband she endowed a Professorship at LSU in the Department of Human Ecology and she also endowed the Jules A. Carville, Jr. '27 Memorial Scholarship at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. She spent many years volunteering for the American Red Cross, United Way, March of Dimes and St. Joan of Arc Church in LaPlace. She was an active member of Colonial Dames and served as Regent of her chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Over the years her interests included cooking, painting, sewing, playing golf and bridge, studying genealogy, and traveling. She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, George Augustine Lasseigne, Sr. and Anna May Connell Lasseigne and her brother, George Augustine Lasseigne, Jr. She is survived by her two sons, Jules A. Carville III (Frances Lawson) and Thomas E. Carville (Jill Thena Sellers), five grandchildren, Jeanne C. Canapary of San Francisco (Jon), Julie Carville Jones of Baton Rouge, Jules A. (Beau) Carville IV (Attie Babin) of New Orleans, Christopher T. Carville of Houston, TX (Valerie White) and Alexis C. Kuhn of LaPlace (Christopher Shane), and ten great grandchildren, Alice, Ella and Miles Canapary; Addie, Berk and Quinn Jones, and Penny, Lawson, Isabelle and Thomas Carville. Other surviving relatives include her cousin, Hazel Montegut Ory, and her sister-in-law, Agnes Faye Lousteau Lasseigne. The family of Doris Carville wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the St. James Place Highland Court Staff and to her caregivers, Antranet Wilson and Jessica Ledet. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (825 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802) from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (11485 Ferdinand St., St. Francisville, LA 70775) from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father John Carville and Father Cary Bani. Burial will follow at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery in St. Francisville, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LSU Foundation, Catholic High School or the charity of your choice.
