
Deputy commissioner since 1993 with the Office of Financial Institutions and an employee since 1982, she died at 4:20 a.m.Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, inScottsdale, Ariz., where she was participating in a clinical trial. She was 62. A resident of Baton Rougeand a native ofBenton, Miss., she fought a courageous year-long battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, March 2, from 5 p.m. until recitation of rosary at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Saturday, March 3, at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Jerry Martin, celebrant. Graveside service will be inGlenwoodCemeteryinYazoo City, Miss., at 11 p.m.Monday. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert W. Gunn Jr.; daughters, Caroline Brock and husband Beau, Baton Rouge, and Christi McEacharn and husband Mike, Delhi; son, Robert William Gunn III, Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Katie, Lauren, Travis, James and Tommy Brock, and Kasey Coco; and brother, David "Sonny" Berry, Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris Gilruth Berryand David Ford Berry; and brother, Christopher Rankin Berry. Pallbearers will be Orville Hebermehl, Larry Murray, Paul Hicks, Steven "Chase" Gloeckner and Fred Dent. Honorary pallbearers are George Reed, Mike Cutshaw and David "Little David" Berry. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, board of directors of Conference of State Bank Supervisors, National Association of Consumer Credit Administrators, board of directors of National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors and 10-year member of the Advisory Council for the Bank Operations Institute. She was the 1992 recipient of the OFI Joseph C. Chase Award, 1999 honorable mention for Charles E. Dunbar Jr. Award, and 2000 honorable mention for Charles E. Dunbar Jr. Award. She received her bachelor of science degree from LSU and was a graduate of the Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government in Boston.
