
A previous longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she died on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Westbury Rehab and Nursing Home in Conyers, Ga., where she had lived for two years to be near her daughter and her family. Born on Feb. 21, 1919, in Bossier City, she was 90. She was a member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church and was known for her love of God, family and friends. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. until chapel service at noon. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North St. Survived by her loving children, Dennie V. Jackson and his wife, Judy, of Denham Springs, Joyce Bates Starnes and her husband, Jeff, of Conyers, and Connie Brown Pannell and her husband, Steve, of Jackson, Tenn. Her grandchildren include Brandon Bates, Justin Bates, Jonathan Brown, Joshua Brown, Troy Russo and Tracye R. Bounds; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Pauline R. Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennie V. Jackson Sr.; parents, Julia and Claiborne Almand; brother, Alton L. Almand; and sister, Lucille A. Lalumandier.
