

"Dorothy Diane Forbes Kaufman, age 79, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017. She was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. Diane graduated from Istrouma High School in 1954. She received a BA in English from Northwestern State University in Nachitoches in 1957. A Master's Degree Plus 30 Graduate Hours and a Specialist Certification in Education were received from LSU. Diane taught school oversees (Newfoundland, Azores, Libya, Germany) and in EBR for 30 years (Baton Rouge High; Woodlawn Jr. High; Broadmoor Jr. and Sr. High School). She retired from teaching English and Social Studies at Baker High School. Diane enjoyed attending LSU sporting events, BR Theatre, and the BR Symphony Orchestra. During retirement, she volunteered as a docent at the Governor's Mansion. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and Military Officers Wives (MOW). Diane was a lifelong member of Istrouma Baptist Church. Diane is preceded in death by her beloved husband Stephen Michael Kaufman and her parents Mack Forbes and Alberta Edwards Forbes. She was a devoted mother to her two children and their spouses: Cathy Kaufman Grammer (Walter) of Charlotte, NC and Brad Kaufman (Robin) of Dallas, TX; and two granddaughters, Caroline Grammer of Dallas, TX and Anne Claire Grammer of Washington D.C. Diane is survived by her sister Sue Ellen Forbes Graham (John) of Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation with the family will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (Government Street) on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 10-12:00 noon. Interment will follow on August 28, 2017 when Diane is buried alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parkinson's Research at Donation Processing, , P.O. Box 5014, Hagertown, MD 21741-5014.
