

Douglas Roy Brashier of Baton Rouge, LA and a native of Slaughter, LA, passed away on October 8, 2023, at the age of 85. He was a 1955 graduate of Clinton High School, 1960 graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute (SLI) with a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering, and a 1974 graduate from Harvard University in Program Management Development (PMD). Roy served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge. Roy enjoyed and worked over 30 years in the Oil and Gas Industry. In 1983, he was elected the Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO of Trans Louisiana Gas Company a Natural Gas Utility Publicly traded company based in Lafayette, LA. In 1985, he was elected to serve on the Board of the Southern Gas Association (SGA). Roy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge. Roy was a true country soul with an unwavering passion for sports and the great outdoors. From his early days as an exceptional athlete to his love for hunting and as a devoted LSU tiger fan, he embodied dedication and loyalty. With a drink in his hand and a pot of gumbo on the stove, he made sure that everyone felt loved and cared for. Roy lived with passion, compassion, and a touch of Louisiana flavor. Roy will be sadly missed by his daughters, Ann Kaltenbaugh (Ron) and Lynn Pennington; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kaltenbaugh (Allison Gienger), Caitlin DeAngelis (Chris), Erin Kaltenbaugh, and Jennifer and Meghan Pennington; great-grandson, Nolan DeAngelis; brother, Lester Brashier (Jane); stepsons, Craig, Cris, and Kevin McClain; and a host of other loving family members. He is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Arthur Brashier; wife, Janice Albritton Brashier; parents, Willie Hugh Brashier and Addie Mae Hall Brashier; and brother, William Glenn Brashier. There will be a graveside service at Redwood Baptist Cemetery, LA-412, Slaughter, LA, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 10am. Burial will immediately follow. Greenoaks Funeral Home handled arrangements.
