A resident of Central and a native of Lafayette, he passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. Douglas is survived by his wife, Cathy Chesson; mother, Willa Dean Comeaux Chesson; two daughters, Allison Dean Chesson, and Kristen Chesson Canella and husband Frank Canella; son, Matthew Gerald Chesson; and sister, Carolyn Brupbacher. Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Douglas M. Chesson. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Saturday, May 15, from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard Bell, Stephen Comeaux, Desmond Gillam, Richard Davis, Barton Bernard and Phillip Brupbacher. Honorary pallbearers are Russell Comeaux, Gene Rizzo, Fred Fournet, Don Chesson Jr., Andrew Chesson, Mackie Verot, Pat Foley, Ashton Mouton and George DeBaillion. Douglas received a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and enjoyed hunting, cooking, gardening and spending time with his family..
