A retired telephone operator and a homemaker, she joined her creator on Friday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2006, at Regency Place in Baton Rouge. She was 89, a resident of Baton Rougeand a native of Hunter. Graveside service will be held atResthavenGardensof Memory on Monday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Kevin Hand. She is survived by two sons, Michael Rains and wife Betty and Gerry Rains and wife Betsy; a sister, Helen Mahfouz ofOrange, Texas; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Roland Rains; and seven siblings. Family members will serve as pallbearers. She was of Baptist faith.
