Edith Ophelia Anderson Shackelford

Edith passed away quietly and peacefully Monday, August 10, 2015 at Old Jefferson Community Care Center in Baton Rouge. She was born August 17, 1927 in Moselle, Mississippi, but was a long time resident of Baton Rouge. She is survived by Jerri Shackelford Watson and Meyer J. Watson, Mary Shackelford Moore and Danny J. Moore, Jean Shackelford, Joan Shackelford Oliveaux and Richard Oliveaux and Charles R. Shackelford and Sandy Shackelford, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Shackelford and her parents, Isaac Anderson and Lorilard Tisdale Anderson; sisters: Ruby, Georgie, and Desiree; brothers: Edward, Wayne and Dean. Edith was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Early in life she was a Department Head at Rosenfields and D.H. Holmes in the Westmoreland shopping center. She will be missed by her family and friends. Pallbearers will be: Danny J. Moore, Charles R. Moore, Kevin D. Longino, Jason A. Walker, Cody Shackelford, Sidney J. Babin Jr. and honorary pallbearer Meyer J. Watson. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, Friday, August 14, 2015, family visitation 5PM until 6PM and then public visitation 6pm until 8pm and Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 9am to 10 am with the service at 10am conducted by Deacon Don Musso. After the service there will be a procession to Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
