
A native of Baton Rouge and a longtime resident of Warner Robins, Ga., she died surrounded by her family at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009. She was a dedicated wife, a loving mother and moral compass for the entire family. She was "Betsy" to the many friends she made and kept throughout her lifetime. Betsy was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, LSU and the LSU School of Law. She was a master at bridge and she played and mentored the game to the end. Betsy was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warner Robins. She is survived by her four children, John D. Blagg III, Robert C. Blagg, Clare Blagg Rochester and Michael F. Blagg; as well as by four grandchildren, Kyle G. Blagg, Lacey E. Rochester, Daniel R. Rochester and Abby Jo Blagg. Betsy is also survived by her two loving brothers, James and Robert Claitor, both of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, John D. Blagg Jr.; a sister, Jewel Claitor Ogorzaly; her parents, Otto and Mabel Claitor; and a grandson, John D. Blagg IV. Betsy was the light of our lives and will be missed by all. She will be buried at Baton Rouge National Cemetery alongside her husband.
