Elizabeth Whitten Allison was born June 22, 1968 at Vandenburg AFB, California. She passed away November 28, 2024 at the age of 56. She was a talented flutist, skilled attorney, and loving mother and wife.
Beth grew up in Baton Rouge and graduated Baton Rouge Magnet High School in 1986. She was active in swimming and soccer, even playing on the boys team when none were available for girls.
She earned her bachelor's degree in music at LSU and an MA in flute performance at UT Austin. She was a very talented musician. She studied with Katherine Kemler at LSU and also played in the LSU Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, New Music Ensemble, and the Tiger Marching Band. She toured London and played Ohio Light Opera. She was such a talented musician, composers would regularly write their work specifically to include her.
In 1998, she attended law school at LSU, where she met her husband, Morgan. They practiced law together in a private practice in Houma, Louisiana for over 20 years. In Houma, she became something of a mother figure to children in her husband's extended family who all say that she was a strong, positive influence in their lives.
She and her family moved to the Baton Rouge area in 2023 to be closer to her mother. Her last year saw a sharp decline in her health as she battled with late stage kidney disease and congestive heart failure.
She is survived by her mother Dorothy Olivia Whitten (nee Jane’) of Baton Rouge; husband Morgan Allison of Gonzales, LA; son Alexander Allison of Gonzales, LA; brother Jay Whitten (Teri) of Houston, TX; and nieces Kailee Whitten of Mountain View, CA; Jamie Whitten of Brooklyn, NY; and Sarah Whitten of Houston, TX. She is preceded in death by her father, James L Whitten, Jr.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday, December 14 at Broadmoor Baptist Church. Service is at 1pm with visitation starting at 11:30 am. 9755 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
