
A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she was born Oct. 11, 1919, and passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at 5 p.m. after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 91 years of age and a member of Zoar Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley H. Watts, and Betty H. Britt and Don Britt; four grandchildren, Jeff and Don Watts, Lisa Withers and Susan Duke; four great-grandchildren, Jeana Allen, Doug and Rileigh Watts and Chase Mistretta; two great-great-grandchildren, Evan and Austin Allen; a sister, Carrie Mae Aaron; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Preceded in death by her infant daughter; husband, Woodrow W. Hubbs; parents, Harney O. and Josephine Denham; three sisters, Florence Laudon, Lula Stevens and Annie Thomas; and four brothers, Jack, Jesse, Frank and Harney Denham Jr. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, bridge and caring for others. Active pallbearers will be Jeff and Don Watts, Don Britt, Ed Cheek, Rocky Duke, Skipper Denham, Chase Mistretta and Frank Carmena. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Fairbanks, Bill Withers, Doug Watts and Jimmy Aaron. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Jan. 14, was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and continues Saturday from 10 a.m. until the religious service at noon, conducted by the Rev. Kevin Hand. Interment in the Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery.
