

A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on February 11, 2016 at the age of 89. He was a native of Vacherie, LA and longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Elmo proudly served in the United States Army and retired from BASF after 30 years. Elmo enjoyed fishing and gardening, LSU sports, and bird watching. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He is survived by three sons, Vincent Hotard; Merrill Hotard and wife, Pamela, and Curtis Hotard; three daughters, Renita Dixon and husband, Cliff, Laurie LaFrance, and Mary Hotard; two brothers, Stephen and wife Judy, and Daniel; one sister, Lorraine Bradley and husband Ken; six grandchildren, Mark Hotard and wife, Katie, Kelly Hooper and fiance’ Mark, Tara Dixon, Eric Dixon and wife, Jannean, Jared LaFrance, and Jacob LaFrance and girlfriend, Krystle; and five great grandchildren, Jordan, Kamryn, and Riley Hooper, and Lily and Kate Dixon. Elmo was the loving husband to the late Margaret “Gitsy” Simon Hotard. He is preceded in death by his parents Lionel and Elvina; one sister, Rose Marie Barrilleaux; five brothers, Tony, Aubrey, Lee, Percy, and Clayton; and one daughter in law, Brenda Hotard. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Monday, February 15, 2016, from 9:30 AM until funeral mass at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
