Emma Lou Beall Nichols, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away on April 19, 2022 at her home at the age of 84. Emma Lou was a well-loved member of any group she was with, be it business or pleasure. She was the "mother", "grandmother" and close friend to all of her husband's racing buddies and their families. She was first and foremost a lady but she dabbled as a legal secretary, a notary and an office manager briefly when she was not being a housewife and mother.
She was her husband's main supporter in whatever endeavor he wished to pursue. Emma Lou loved to travel, quilt, make basket, garden, was avid reader and tried just about any other craft you could imagine. She was an excellent cook. Her pans always came back licked clean! She was always the one you could count on to do whatever was needed whenever it was needed and most times before you ever knew you needed it.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Sheffield and Dora Adelle Atkinson Beall; and by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald Nichols, whom she has been waiting to join since September of last year. She and Don knew each other from the age of 14/15 and never saw anyone else again. They found their true love and partner for life that very day. Emma Lou is survived by her daughter, Donna Lynn Nichols Marsh; her sisters, Sarah DeJean, and Patricia Black (William); her brother, William Beall, Jr. (Kathy); beloved granddaughters, Amber Dawn Hebert (Nelson), Laura Adelle Jones (Adam); and by her beautiful great granddaughters, Ellyana Marie Jones, Ashton Marie Hebert, and Victoria Lynn Hebert.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 9 am until funeral service at 11 am. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Emma Lou will be remembered and greatly missed for her kind heart and how easy she was to love. Please visit www.greenoaksfunerals.com to leave condolences to the family.
