Evelyn Tiblier Hoffman, devoted wife and mother passed away peacefully in her home of forty-seven years on April 28, 2014. Evelyn was born in New Orleans, LA on June 11, 1927. She was the daughter of Dr. Sidney L. and Aline Bosognier Tiblier of New Orleans. She was one of six children, the last to pass away. She attended Holy Name of Jesus Elementary School, Ursuline Academy, and was a graduate of Ursuline College. She and her husband made Baton Rouge their home since their marriage in 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Daniel H. Hoffman, Jr. and by a son-in-law, Arthur DuVernay. She is survived by her five children, Daniel R. Hoffman of Jackson, MS, Sarita DuVernay, John "Sparky" Hoffman and his wife Pat, Thomas "Tico" Hoffman and his wife Mitzi a of Jackson, MS, and Penny Nelson and her husband Scott. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Louise Babin and her husband, Kevin, Aimee DuVernay, Keith Hoffman and his wife Erin, Thomas Hoffman, Kathleen Hoffman, Jack Hoffman, Steven Nelson and his wife Molly, Daniel Nelson, Matthew Nelson, and Sarah Nelson, and and three great grandchildren, Miles Babin, Caroline Babin, and Preston Babin. Evelyn was a caring wife and mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was tremendously kind and compassionate, always living out the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Her life was spent taking care of her home, her husband and her five children, and volunteering at St. Thomas More school and church. For many years she attended daily mass until her failing health made this no longer possible. We will miss her dearly. Visitation will be Friday, May 2 at St. Thomas More Church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum. Special thanks to her dear friend Carolyn Talbot for her tremendous kindness throughout her illness. Also, thanks to her caregivers, Barbara Searcy, Roberta Brown, Michelle Clarke, Toniece Williams, St. Joseph Hospice and others to whom we will be forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas More, Catholic High School, St. Joseph's Academy or Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area.
