
Evelyn R. Wander passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. Evelyn was 94, born in Pittsburg in 1916 to Israel and Cera Ramback. She lived in Kittanning, Pa., until the death of her first husband, Leo Clug, an optometrist. Following Leo's death at 42, she moved to New Orleans to be closer to her brother, Ben and his wife, Lillian. There she was introduced to Mose Wander by mutual friends. They fell in love and were married in Baton Rouge. Mose was the owner of Tic Toc Two, a remarkable and popular shoe store. Evelyn really enjoyed working in the store with Mose and helping all the customers with their shoe issues. She had many interests, including music, theater and learning to speak Hebrew. She won a best supporting actor award for her portrayal of Edith Frank in "The Diary of Anne Frank," performed at the Baton Rouge Little Theater. Evelyn was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue. She is survived by her children, Elaine Wander LeClaire and husband Kirk, and Stanley Ira Clug. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mose Wander. Evelyn will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A funeral service for Evelyn will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow in Liberal Cemetery.
