
A kind and gentle soul died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at the age of 91. The love and wisdom she imparted to her family will forever remain in their hearts. Franceswas a native of Simsboro, born the second of four children to the union of the late Robert Emmett and Marie Strain Burt. She was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, where she lived with her loving husband, the late Henry Otis White, for 49 years. They were proud parents of three children. Frances, affectionately known as Mom, was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of theFirstBaptistChurch, Athenian Sunday School Class, PEO Chapter W. Town, Country Study Club, John and Martha Clement Circle and WMU. She loved sports, especially LSU sports. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing bridge with her dear friends. Franceswas preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, William C. "Billy" Burt and Robert E. "Buster" Burt and his wife, Mary Elizabeth; and her brother-in-law, Ragan D. Madden. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Margaret Madden of Shreveport; her three children and their spouses, Robert O. White and Terrie, Nancy W. Thomas and Fred, and Jane W. Gillis and Mark. She had 12 grandchildren whom she adored, Ramsey and Kevin Gordon, Matthew White, Maggie White-McCann, Sarah White, Daniel Herpin, Shannon Turnley, Stephanie LeBouef, Julie McDonald, Lori Harrell, Robin Shollmier and Brent Dugas; and 15 precious great-grandchildren, Jenny and Jared, Taylor and Riley, Hannah, Kate and Ross, Chip and Leah, Shane and Ryan, Nolan and Camille, Amalie and Layla; as well as her wonderful nieces and nephews. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., was on Saturday, Dec. 23, from 10 a.m.until religious service in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Burn Page and the Rev. Chris Andrews. Interment inGreenoaksMemorial Parkin theGardenofSt. Francis. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and her grandsons-in-law. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to all of the family and friends who offered their prayers, love and support. Special blessings go out to her faithful neighbors, Sam and Gail Bass, and Tommy and Beth Miller for their many years of care and devotion. Heartfelt thanks go out to the administration and staff ofEastridgeNursingCenterin Abbeville for their care and concern, and special thanks to her wonderful and devoted caregivers, Linda Breaux, Joyce Bertrand, Tammarra Stewart and Beverly Reaux. You helped to make the difficult times so much easier and more pleasant for Mom and for this we will be forever grateful.
