

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Gayle passed away at 11:46 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was a resident of Belle River, Louisiana. She was a retired artist who loved her craft. She won many awards for her paintings at the Senior Olympics. She was 80, and a native of Dallas, Texas. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 5:00pm-9:00pm, with the Rosary recited at 8:00pm. Visitation will resume Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church from9:30am- 10:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am celebrated by Reverend Tom Duhe’. Interment immediately following at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Gayle is survived by her four sons and three daughters-in-law, Martin A. Gehling, III, Central, James E. “Jim” Gehling, Sr. and wife Cindy, Central, John M. Gehling, Sr. and wife Laurie, Watson, William Micheal “Billy Mike” Gehling, Sr. and wife Jamie, Zachary; 12 grandchildren, Martin Gehling, IV, and wife Sarah, Monika Arnold and husband Corey, Brandi Aydell and husband Brian, Jimmy Gehling, Jr. and wife Michelle, Misty Banes and husband Andrew Sr., Christie Guillory and husband Brandon, Ashley Trinh and husband Kevin, John Gehling, Jr., B.J. Gehling, Jr. and wife Jolie, Tommy Gehling, Brittney Fresina and husband Tony, Kimberly Cline and husband Joey; 21 great grandchildren, Ruby Gehling, Marty Gehling, V, Shelby Aydell, Daniel Aydell, Geoffrey Aydell, Matthew Aydell, Shaianne Gehling, Brianna Gehling, Drew Banes, Jr., Christian Banes, Truong Quan Trinh, Truong Quy Trinh, Lap Thien Trinh, Bao Bao Trinh, Gia Binh Gehling, Sophia Gehling, Zachary Gehling, Dillon Gehling, Ailynn Fresina, Kailah Fresina, and Lawson Cline; and she was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great-great grandson, Kohen Vaughan; a brother, Edwin B. Cantrell, III. and wife Jane. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Martin A. “Bill” Gehling, Jr., mother, Olli Mae Compton, father, Edwin B. Cantrell, Jr. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Pierre Part, Louisiana, where she gave baptism seminars with her husband Bill. She was a former member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where she and Bill were involved with Engaged Encounter and also volunteered as a Sponsor Couple for couples preparing for marriage. She spent many happy hours with her Red Hat ladies, her Pokeno group and her many friends on the bayou. Memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude or the Wounded Warrior Project.
