

George Hallum, resident of Baton Rouge, and native of Mississippi, passed away on January 2, 2014 at the age of 89. George retired from Allied chemical operations where he worked for 20+ years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. George was a devoted family man and one of sweetest spirits who brought laughter and love to all who knew him. He was a member of Goodwood Blvd. Church of Christ since 1955. He enjoyed mechanics and was an avid LSU and sports fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and son who is survived by his son, Trent Hallum and wife Holly; daughter, Dena Hallum Fitzgerald and husband Scott; grandchildren, Ashley Justice and husband Ron, Aimee Fitzgerald and husband Kyle, Anna Merrill and husband Bo, Erin Deveaney and husband Rich, and Taylor Hallum and wife Emily; great grandchildren, Ethan and Drew Justice and Carter Fitzgerald; sister, Junita Schrader; and his many special coffee friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Earline Hallum; two brothers, Warren and James Hallum. Visitation will be held Sunday January 5, 2014 at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 6PM-8PM. Visitation will resume Monday January 6, 2014 from 9AM until Funeral Service beginning at 10AM. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the SICU staff at Our Lady of the Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Goodwood Boulevard Church of Christ.
