Georgette Oncal Brooks

Georgette Marie Oncal Brooks, beloved mother and grandmother and seamstress extraordinaire, age 93, of Hammond, Louisiana (formerly of Covington, Louisiana), passed away on July 3, 2021. She was born in Port Allen, Louisiana on March 13, 1928. She was married to Freddie Mack Brooks on January 9, 1948.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years and her parents, Honore’ and Agnes Sarradet Oncal. She is survived by one sister, Susan Oncal of Port Allen, Louisiana, and six children: Laurie Brooks Seneca (Johnny) of Addis, Louisiana; Danny Brooks (Myra) of Walker, Louisiana; Sally Brooks Seneca (Andy) of Addis, Louisiana; Amy Brooks Gates (Thomas) of Covington, Louisiana; Davy Brooks (Karen) of Hammond, Louisiana; and Jamey Brooks (Lynne) of San Angelo, Texas. She is survived by fifteen grandchildren and their spouses: Becky Seneca Purdom (Steve); Tammy Seneca; Eric Seneca (Jennifer); Chris Brooks (Julie); Jennifer Seneca; Jason Seneca; Timothy Gates; Joseph Gates; Jesse Brooks (Hannah); Laura Brooks Thomas (JT); Carey Brooks; Katie Brooks Rhodes (Ben); Emily Brooks Hill (Nic); Beth Brooks Mwano (Vinny); and Jeremy Brooks. She is survived by eleven great grandchildren: Gavin Purdom; Connor Seneca; Garrett Seneca; Landon Seneca; Bella Seneca; Audrey Thomas; Ellie Thomas; Judah Hill; Jubilee Hill, Tirzah Hill; and Ocean Mwano. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in the Auditorium of the Reimers Memorial Building (305 E. Charles St, Hammond, LA 70401). A Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm until the Funeral Mass at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (402 South Kirkland Drive (River Road), Brusly, LA 70719). Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery.
