"Gertrude Elizabeth Bryan, 80, passed away Thursday, February 15 2018 in Baton Rouge, LA. Gertrude is originally from St. Thomas USVI where she was a homemaker and raised her six children. As an empty nester, she became an entrepreneur by growing plants and flowers to display and sell in her front yard. As time passed, she built her business and added fruits and vegetables. This was not the end, but the beginning of many friendships as clients quickly became friends who would just come by to visit and chat with her. She loved visiting with all her friends, but she was still a fierce yet fair business woman that ensured a win-win for both herself and her customers. Her bartering skills were excellent. A few years after her husband Victor Bryan had passed away, she relocated to the US due to her own health issues. She loved seeing new things, but never forgot her roots. She could be found playing her "island-music" or cooking up one of her delicious meals. She never passed up an opportunity to go to the casinos "cino". She was the best Mom, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is missed already. Gertrude is survived by: her three sons Peter, James and Wayne; three daughters Virginia, Jennifer and Lisa; Son-in-law Michael; Daughter-in-laws Carol, Marie and Patrice; grandchildren Jessica(Eric), Brittney(Alan), Rebekah, Hannah(Samson), Rachel, John(Alex), Victoria, Melissa(Ronald), Shannon(Joe), Emily, Will, Cassie and Andy; great-grandchildren Robert, Mark (Mars), Landon, Olivia, Ellie and Avery; mother C. Andrea Bryan; six sisters Uranie, Doris, Velma, Carol, Gloria and June; many other family members; and all her friends. A memorial service is scheduled for 12:00 "“ 2:00 on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815 (225-272-9950).
