
Grace Richard Crain died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Grace was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Lockport. She grew up in Houma and was a graduate of Terrebonne High School. Survived by her devoted and loving husband, Norman Crain of Baton Rouge; stepson and wife, Bill and Leslie Crain of Mandeville; stepdaughter, Angela Haycook of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Ryan Haycook; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Larry Legendre of Thibodaux, Jean and Larry Bergeron of Marrero, Doris and Charles Beasley of Houma; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Eugess and Paul Richard; and sister, Velma Legendre. Grace was a wonderful and loving wife and mother to her stepchildren, grandchildren and her beloved dogs. She was a very talented lady who gave freely to her family and friends, leaving everyone she touched a better person. Grace fought a heroic and inspiring five-year battle with breast cancer. Special thank you to Dr. Debra Abernathy and her staff, Dr. Bryan Bienvenu and his staff, Dr. Rene Levine and the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and the staff on the fifth floor cancer center at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. All of you gave Grace loving care. A memorial service was set for Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, breast cancer research or donate blood to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
