A retired Exxon Co. USA employee, he died at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 87, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a native of Hickman, Ky. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Aug. 26, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home chapel on Monday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. James A. Nichols and assisted by the Rev. Gerald Wheeler of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Myrtle Thornton Murray; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Wilson Shaffer and Donna Harrell and Ray Guidroz; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold Wayne and Barbara Murray; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be James, Jeff and Joel Wallace, Michael Murray, Charles, Brad and Gary Wintz. He was a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church and Berean Sunday School Class.
