Hollis Hano, Jr of Baker passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on January 7, 2025. His favorite ways to pass his days while on Earth was to cook a great meal, visit with family and friends, play with grandchildren, sit by his bonfires, go camping, or fish and hunt.
His parents, Hollis and Evelyn Ruth (Sanders) Hano, welcomed him to their home near Holden in 1934. They later moved to Baker where Hollis, Jr. graduated from Baker High in 1955. Making a career as a welder for Local 198, Hollis worked on many pipelines and in the chemical industry for over 45 years.
Back in the day, his cohorts revered him as an amazing welder and named him as a “Cracker Jack Welder.” Hollis’s skills led him to help build the apprenticeship program school for Local 198 and train many others entering the trade. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. During this time he married the love of his life, Carmen Mary Chauvin Hano, and through this union they gave birth to three beautiful children and welcomed 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Hollis is survived by his wife of 65 years Carmen Chauvin Hano, one son Brian Keith Hano, Sr (Jennifer) and one daughter Charmaine Hano Shuttleworth; grandchildren: Brian Keith Hano, Jr. (Nicolynn), Jeramey Hano, Clay Hano (Gabby), Natalie Hano Thompson (Jacob), and Amber Shuttleworth; great
grandchildren: Peyton Edward, Jaxon Vincent, Jenson Von, Jameson Vance, Lillian Fay, Bradley Ann, and Landry Elaine; and one sister Ruth Hano Matherne (Kenneth) and a wealth of in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father Hollis (Hollen) Hano, Sr; his mother, Evelyn Ruth Sanders Hano, a brother,
Richard (Dickie) Hano, and a daughter, Monica Hano Gridley.
The family is extremely grateful for the assistance of Clarity Hospice, especially
his Nurse Ms. Dana Pate and his CNA Ms. Tessa.
Visitation will be at Green Oaks on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 8:30 am and
funeral services will begin at 10:00 am prior to burial at Greenoaks Memorial
Garden.
