

"A resident of Baton Rouge left this earth Monday June 25th, surrounded by her loving family at Baton Rouge General-Bluebonnet. She was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on October 25, 1934. She retired from the United States Courts in 2005 after serving 26 years as Judicial Assistant to United States District Judge Frank J. Polozola. Her first job (1952-1959) was as a typist with the Financial Responsibility Division of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety where she was soon promoted to secretary to the assistant superintendent. She then worked for National American Life Insurance Company (1959-1979) as recording secretary to the board of directors, executive secretary to the founder, chairman and president of the company. She became executive and legal secretary to Rufus D. Hayes, former Commissioner of Insurance, after company ownership changed and he was named president and legal counsel of the company. She was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church where she served on various church committees and the Church Council, was an usher, participated in Bible Studies and was a member of a Companions in Christ covenant group. She also performed volunteer work for many civic and charitable organizations. She was an active member of the Federal Judicial Assistant's Association and retained membership in the organization after retirement. She was a past president of Dames of Kappa Alpha, mother's club of the LSU chapter of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. She is survived by her husband of 67 years Albert George Gaudin, Jr. (A.G.), two sons, Albert G. Gaudin, III (Bert) and David Scott Gaudin; grandson Ryan Christopher Gaudin and wife Trish Saldana Gaudin, Denver, Colorado, great grandchildren Maximo Wylder Saldana Gaudin and Beauen Kai Saldana Gaudin, Denver; sister Patricia Banister Talbot and husband Evert; brother Jerry David Banister of Inyorken, California; niece Whitney Talbot Seal with whom she shared a special relationship, six other nieces and nephews, and eleven great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by grandchildren of the heart Dr. Lindsey Richard, Roddy Richard, Autumn Smith, Jude Smith and former daughters-in-law, Claudia Evans Richard and Brandye Sawyer Smith, She was preceded in death by her parents Broadus Vol Banister, Jr. and Helen Scruggs Banister Grimes; her husband's parents, Albert G. Gaudin, Sr. and Elvena Benton Gaudin and sister-in-law Marie Banister. Visitation at St. John's United Methodist Church, Highland Road on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 3:30 pm until religious services at 5:00 pm, to be conducted by Rev. Deirdre Halliburton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Liz Wyatt Fund at St. John's United Methodist Church.
