
A retired administrator with the Louisiana Department of Education with 36 years of service, he died on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 65, a resident of Baton Rouge and native of Shreveport. He was survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Boynton Bogan; his son, Scott Edwards and wife Heather; daughter, Elizabeth Chadwick; and grandsons, Scott and James. He was the son of the late James Miller Bogan and Carmen Page Bogan. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carmen Bogan Murrey. He was a graduate of Byrd High School where he was a member of the Drifters Club. He maintained lifelong relationships with his club members. He was a graduate of LSU, a member of Kiwanis and a member and usher at St. James Episcopal Church. He was a reservist in the U.S. Army. Jim was a loving husband, dedicated father, and great friend to all that knew him. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and was an avid golfer. Visitation will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on Friday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. until the service at noon. Graveside service will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Abbeville on Saturday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. James Episcopal Church at 205 N.
