James J. Corbett, IV

James “Jim” Joseph Corbett IV, 59, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 26, 1967, in New Orleans, LA, Jim was the son of Dr. James Joseph Corbett III and Vallan Brown Corbett. He was raised in Baton Rouge, LA, where he graduated from Episcopal High in 1985. He later attended LSU and NSU. Jim made his home in Eagle River, AK, beginning in 2007. For more than 25 years, he worked for ConocoPhillips as a self-taught Senior Systems Engineer and IT specialist. Guided by a strong faith and an endless curiosity about the world around him, Jim loved learning about anything and everything and took great pride in passing that love of knowledge on to his children. He will be remembered for his intelligence, wit, generosity, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his family. Above all else, Jim was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Wiseman Corbett; daughters, Madeline R. Corbett, Caroline A. Corbett, and Caitlin E. Corbett; son, James Joseph Corbett V; mother, Vallan B. Corbett; sisters, Dr. Gwen Corbett Henry (Benson) and Catherine Corbett Hanna (Allen), along with their children; and many extended family members, colleagues, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. James “Joey” Joseph Corbett III. Jim’s family finds comfort in the strength of his faith and in the many memories, lessons, laughter, and love he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a fund established by Jim’s coworkers at ConocoPhillips to honor his lifelong love of learning, deep devotion to his family, and unwavering commitment to providing educational opportunities for his children. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 9am until the memorial service at 10am.
