James C. George, a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer and a native of Rockmart, GA, Jim died at his home in Baton Rouge on Friday, August 10, 2012. He was 80. He is survived by his wife Elva; sons Sean, Curt and Richard; daughters-in-law, Janine and Kari; and grandchildren, Aidan Miles Aaron George; sister, Doris and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by grandson, Ethan George; parents, Ruth Holcombe and Waymon George; brother Billy; and sisters Mildred, Betty and Macel. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, August 13, 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and againon Tuesday, August 14 from 9 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. Fred Wideman, followed by internment at Greenoaks Gardens of Memory. Memorial donations to Hospice of Baton Rouge in lieu of flowers are encouraged.
