
A retired DSM Copolymer supervisor and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 7:30 a.m.Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 79 and a native of St. Francisville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Pacific theater, serving with occupation forces from 1945-1946 in Japan, where he was stationed in Sasebo, Fukuokaand Yokosuka. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., was on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Weimer and Sandra Stephens, both of Baton Rouge, Brenda Caruso, Central, and Linda Henson, Denham Springs; a son, Thomas Gomez, Walker; a stepson, Scott Campbell, Baton Rouge; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, two sisters, Violet Harrell, Port Hudson, and Dorothy Johnson, Baton Rouge; and two brothers, Harold Gomez, Metairie, and Charles Gomez, Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mickey Cronin Gomez; parents, Thomas Gomez and Mary Capone Gomez; a grandson, Christopher Henson; a granddaughter, Melissa Ann Caruso; two brothers, William and Carlton Gomez; and a stepson, Harold Deweese. He was a member of St. Gerard Church and a former member and steward of Operating Engineers Union Local 216.
