
James W. Morris passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, after a long illness. He was born June 8, 1924, in North Little Rock, Ark., the son of Lawrence B. Morris and Carrie Lou Moss. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Tuesday, Jan. 8, from noon until funeral service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Gary Taylor. Interment will be private. He is survived by Riviere Morris, his wife of 57 years; three sons and their wives, William H. and Faye Z. Morris, Michael W. and Donna D. Morris, and Timothy E. and Marina D. Morris; along with grandchildren, James Morris, Sarah Escobar and husband Juan, Dr. Michael Morris and wife Dr. Rachel Morris, Ryan Morris and fiancée Katie Mitchell, Kendal Morris, Timothy Morris, Matthew Morris, Emily Morris, Allison Morris, Nicholas Degueyter, Wendy Degueyter and Krystal Degueyter; six great-grandchildren, Daylen, Molley, Breanna and Caroline Morris and Alysse and Brayden Degueyter; and sister, Thelma F. George. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Lawrence B. Morris. Mr. Morris attended the University of Arkansas and Texas A&M and earned bachelor of science and bachelor of arts degrees and a master's degree plus 30 credit hours in supervision and administration, all from LSU. He was an educator, contractor, Realtor, past president of the Louisiana Teacher's Association, and was a delegate to the Louisiana Constitutional Convention of 1973. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church and St. James Masonic lodge, Shriners, Kappa Phi Kappa and Morning Call Coffee group. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Jed Morris for the many years of care, support, love and time he devoted to their husband and father.
