James Ernest Price Sr.

James "Jim" Ernest Price Sr. peacefully left this world Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011. He was born April 17, 1937, in Laurel, Miss., where he graduated from Laurel High School and Mississippi Southern College. Jim was a well respected insurance agent where he worked for Prudential Insurance for 18 years. He was the former owner of Jim Price Insurance and then became an independent agent. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Gladys Price; sister, Gwendolyn Nelson; and son, Edward T. Price. He is survived by his beloved pet, Taffy; former wife, Stella Courtney Price; sons, James E. Price Jr. and Michael D. Price; daughter, Pamela G. Price; grandchildren, Joshua A. Swick, Christopher J. Price and fianc‚e Natasha D. Nations, Shana Price Ulmer and husband Fred "DJ," Jennifer Price McEachern and husband Todd J., Courtney M. Gongre and husband Michael L., and Sarah K. Swick; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Jim was a member of the Naval Reserve and an avid LSU and Saints fan. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will continue Friday, Nov 18, from noon until funeral service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Cleve Chandler. Pallbearers will be Fred Ulmer, Todd Mc Eachern, Michael Gongre, Christopher Price, James E. Price Jr. and Alvin Venable. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Nelson and Tommy Kennedy.
