Janet was born on December 6, 1927. She died on July 2, 2021. She grew up in New Orleans where she graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy. After marrying Raymond Lepine, they moved to Baton Rouge. Devoted to her religion and God, she believed strongly in the power of prayer and always reminded her children of that.
Janet’s many hobbies included arranging flowers, painting, and sewing, entertaining, reading, and listening to music. An avid bridge player she could often be heard saying, “I’m playing bridge today”. She lived in Holland, Spain and Montana. She traveled as far as Singapore and returned to Europe several times. Janet’s greatest passion was her family, especially her parents Frank and Aimee, sisters, Myrtle, Anna, Cecilia, Rita, Shirley and Bernadette and two brothers, Tom and Frank; but mostly her children and grandchildren. Probably not a day would go by without Mom saying, “I read an article”.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her parents, and seven of her siblings.
Left to cherish memories of Janet are her sister Shirley, her children, Raymond Lepine, Patricia Lepine and Kitty (Mike) Fontane; grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Fontane, Robert (Noel) Fontand and Rebecca Fontane and Lee Mixon; great grandchildren Isabella, Aubrey, Lydia, and Pierson Fontane, Devon Holy, Brandon (Katie) Holy and great-great grandson Ethan Holy.
A private service of Christian Burial was held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Interment followed at Greenoaks Mausoleum. Pallbearer was Pierson Fontane.
Her children would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her dedicated caregivers, Helen Minor, Gladys Smith and Tracie Miller and to Hospice of Baton Rouge, especially her hospice nurse, Tiffany Loper.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Baton rouge, 3600 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806 or Williamsburg Senior Living Community, 5445 Government St. Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
