

Janice Desroche Ponti passed away unexpectedly at home, Saturday, October 26. She was born in New Orleans to Edward J. and Eunice Carpenter Desroche, September 18, 1935. She attended Dominican High School and graduated from the Academy of Holy Angels. She was a resident of Baton Rouge 53 years and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy 47 years. Janice was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother who supported her children in all their activities as Cub Scout Den Mother and active in Mothers' Clubs at Our Lady of Mercy, St. Joseph's Academy and Catholic High School. She was a member of OLOM Altar Society, Tara Garden Club, a founding member of the SYN Investment Club and an avid bridge player. Janice was a Lady Commander with Star of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Eugene, and her children, Eugene, Jr. (Suzanne), their children Christian and Madison of West Monroe, LA, Elizabeth P. Wilcox (Stephen), their son Samuel of Flower Mound, TX, and Erich (Lisa) and his children Megan P. Slaven (Josh), of Shreveport, Andrew and Emily of Baton Rouge; three great grandchildren, Erin, Matthew and Sarah. Survived also by her sisters Joyce D. Keenan of New Orleans and Jane D. Haupt of Baton Rouge and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant brother, Marvin and infant grandson, Ethan Wilcox. Visitation is scheduled at Rabenhorst East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Monday, October 28, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. to resume at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29th at Our Lady of Mercy Church with Mass of Christian Burial concelebrated by Fr. Cleo Milano and Fr. Miles Walsh at 10 am. Burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to the Eugene O. and Janice D. Ponti Scholarship at Catholic High School, Our Lady of Mercy Church or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
