
A resident of Geismar, he passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at his home. He was 31 and a native of Sunshine. Jared attended Catholic High School and earned his bachelor's degree in finance from LSU. Jared was an assistant vice president of Investar Bank. He attended River Church South, was an avid LSU sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his daughter. Although Jared was only able to share the gift of his life for 31 short years, he imparted more than a lifetime of love to his friends, family, and most of all, his daughter, Alexa, who was his heart. Jared's family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love, prayers and kindness. He is survived by his close family including Erica Yglesias and daughter, Alexa; parents, Steve and Genie LaPlace; brother, Chase LaPlace and wife Julia; paternal grandmother, Dolores LaPlace; maternal grandparents, Frank and Dorella Banta; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jared was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Carl LaPlace Sr.; an uncle, Jamie Banta; and a cousin, Clark Culberson. Visiting at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Thursday, Sept. 30, was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the church Friday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Charles Landry, celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chase LaPlace, Achille Fairchild, Robert Banta, Tim LaPlace, Darian Spedale, Myron Culberson, Trey Cline and Ryan Galloway. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
