

"Dr. Jayanth Sanampudi, age 39, died on Friday, October 12, 2018, in Orange County, California. From his birth in Marshalltown, Iowa on November 2, 1978, to his death, Jay has generously shared his talents, kindness, and joy with everyone he encountered. Jay excelled at academics. He could read by the age of 4, multiply by age 8, and graduated high school as a National Merit Finalist at age 17. He later attended the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Microbiology with honors. He went on to attend the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he received his M.D. After completing surgical training at the integrated surgery program in Phoenix, Jay became board certified by the American Board of Surgery and was a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He practiced at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, California, where his colleagues and patients remember him for his tremendous skill, and for his calm and compassionate spirit. Even in his death, Jay continued to save others through organ donation. Jay was a foodie and an avid hiker, passions he shared with his friends and family. Jay is survived by his father and mother, Kondala and Vijaya Sanampudi of Baton Rouge, LA, and his brother, sister-in-law, and niece, Sanjeev, Carrie, and Amalya Sanampudi of Brooklyn, NY, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
