

Barnette, Jean KempMrs. Jean Kemp Barnette, a resident of Baton Rouge, and a native of Brisbane, Australia passed away at her residence on Monday, August 17, 2015. She was 93 years old. She is survived by her sons, B.C. Barnette III (Dianne), and Donald Barnette(Alice); grandchildren, Heather Barnette LaCombe (Chris), Travis Barnette(Sheri), Brandon Barnette (Jessica) and Brooke Barnette; great-grandchildren, McKinnin LaCombe, Trent, Hailey, and Joshua Barnette, and Emily and Madisen Brown; numerous nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Noreen Reed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin C. Barnette, Jr.; her parents, Norman and Ivy Kemp; and her brothers, Gordon, Donald, and Allan Kemp. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and of the International Club. She enjoyed traveling and reading, and was active for many years in ballroom dancing competitions. Pallbearers will be B.C., Donald, Travis and Brandon Barnette. Chris LaCombe, and Thomas Smith. Visitation will be at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Pope Hall, 8833 Goodwood Blvd., on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am with a service to follow in the sanctuary at 11:30 am. Graveside services will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The officiant will be the Reverend Bryan Owen. Special thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge and her caretakers Carl Bowman, Tessa Bankston and Khristian Renshaw. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge or St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
